“Grow old with me! The best is yet to be” – Robert Browning
In order to have a wedding or civil marriage celebration you have to have been legally married at the Register Office – you can follow this with a celebration of your choice. You can then attend a venue of your choice. Therefore, you can have your celebration at home, in a pub, in a field, on a boat or in a hotel – wherever you wish!
There are no time restrictions on when you can have the celebration either. You can have a theme to the celebration and if you wanted – it could be fancy dress! The world is your oyster – enjoy it!
The ceremony can include vows written by yourselves, or rituals including a handfasting (ceremonial tying of hands), symbolic lighting of a candle, a sand ceremony or a sharing cup ritual. I can ask that the rings be blessed or you can just exchange rings or gifts (if you have no rings). The rituals would be included in the ceremony.
I am not a Humanist celebrant and can therefore include religious content if required, or you can choose to have a completely non-religious ceremony. The choice is yours. Your ceremony can be performed in front of your friends and family so that they can enjoy and experience your happy occasion with you.
Many couples these days choose to marry abroad, but still like to have a celebration in front of their family and friends on their return to the UK – exactly as you want it.
Once you contact me, I will arrange a visit to talk to you and your partner about your requirements for the celebration ceremony. I will find out your hopes and dreams for the ceremony and work closely with you to write a ceremony, which could include poems and/or readings and/or vows written by you, which captures the day and your emotions.
